2019 is shaping to be massive in terms of new games being released. They are spread out across all genres, delivering something for everybody, from classic strategies to 4X to shooters and mysteries and everything in between.
The Division 2
Release date: March 15
As the ad says, this what a real government shutdown looks like. In Division 2 raids can be conducted with eight players playing coop, plus various other improvements. What is a refreshing decision in the sea of microtransactions and paid DLC is that Ubisoft will release a new free DLC every three months. Let’s hope they don’t change their minds.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

From Software continues with their efforts to bring us epic games. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is more action-oriented than Dark Souls, which may cause some issues with fans, but it will surely bring some new players. The equipment will be non-changeable and duels more cinematic. Player will get to keep a grappling hook, though.
Total War: Three Kingdoms
Release date: March 7
The long-awaited sequel of Total War is finally here, this time taking place in China during the Three Kingdoms period. Apart from the change of scenery and new units, Total War: Three Kingdoms brings some fundamental gameplay changes. The game introduces heroes of the era, which players can choose instead of nations and factions like in previous games. There are 11 of them, each with different skill sets and bonuses. They will be able to challenge enemy hero to a duel, greatly influencing the result of a battle.
Katana Zero
Release date: March
A sidescrolling platformer. Katana Zero is a 2D game that offers the charm of Hotline Miami or Samurai Gunn. It is a slice ‘em up action that promises to be a lot of fun to play. In order to help players survive all the violence and fighting multiple opponents at once, the game features dilating time, ensuring that you have more time for those split-second decisions.
Left Alive
Release date: March 5
People who designed Left Alive have been involved in various roles in the development of Ghost in the Shell and Armored Core (Toshifumi Nabeshima) and Metal Gear Solid (Yoji Shinkawa). That should tell you everything you need to know about it. It’s a survival action shooter/stealth game, liberally sprinkled with giant mechs and robots. It is unclear whether players will be able to drive them, but we certainly hope so.
Battletoads
Release date: March
After years of listening to fans screaming, Microsoft caved in and gave us the new, modern version of Battletoads, this time in 4d and hand drawn graphics.
Toejam & Earl: Back in the Groove
Release date: March 1
Another ancient game (is 25 years ago considered ancient?) is making a comeback, updated for the 21st century.
Devil May Cry 5
Release date: March 8
The fifth iteration of Devil May Cry has the same director as the previous two sequels, Hideaki Itsuno. He has assured fans that this time Nero and Dante will be playable, plus there will a new character called V. Devil May Cry 4 has encountered some ire from the fans, but their complaints mostly boiled down to the changed aesthetics of the game, which is a valid objection, but not when it addresses the main character’s hairstyle.
The Sinking City
Release date: March 21
If solving mysteries without any hints or clues from the game, while roaming around in a Lovecraftian world, this is the game for you. The same developer was responsible for the latest Sherlock Holmes game as well, so they should be good at this type of games. Set in the 1920s, the game takes place in a semi-submerged city of Oakmont, hence the name of the game. The player is a private investigator, tasked with discovering what mysterious forces are at work in the city.
Generation Zero
Release date: March 26
A robot apocalypse set in the 1980s and happening in Sweden of all places. You can team up with up to three of your friends and try to stay alive in an environment filled with violent robots in all sizes and shapes. Some are rather small, while others are irritatingly large, making it very hard to kill them.
