Salt Lake City is so proud to be hosting the 2019 National Council of Mathematics Teachers Conference and Exposition. It will be a conference and exposition where mathematics teachers from around the country gather together and share ideas, plans, and strategies for how to teach the subject going forward.
The conference is geared around giving teachers new resources, tools, and classroom best practices to take student success to new heights. There will be valuable insights for teachers of all levels, from Pre-K to Grade 12.
Taking place at the Salt Palace Convention Center from October 16–18, 2019, there will be plenty of learning sessions, presentations, and exhibitors. This year’s featured speakers include leaders in the field like Jennifer Bay-Williams, Tim Kanold, Amy Harmon, and Peg Smith.
Where to Stay
The 2019 NCMT has partnered with Hilton Salt Lake City for discount reservations. The hotel is less than half a mile away and offers many amenities. If discount tickets have sold out, the Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Downtown/The Gateway is another popular choice. It’s just a couple blocks away from the Salt Palace Convention Center and offers an outdoor pool and a 24/7 gym.

Check Out the Eccles Theater
The Eccles Theater can be a great place to stop in between conference meetings or just when you have some time to kill. This particular theater caters to people who enjoy all different kinds of entertainment. They have been known to book bluegrass shows or even some of the funniest comedians in the country.
There is some great food available from specialty pizzas to some incredible drinks. Make sure you check all of that out as well.
See The Temple Square
One of the things that Utah is most known for is the heavy Mormon population. There are some pretty incredible structures related to the faith. The temple is incredibly huge and beautiful. The grounds are kept immaculate and this just adds to the beauty and splendor of the whole experience. It would be a shame to be in town for this event and not check out some of these structures.
City Library
The library in Salt Lake City is beautiful for its design. It is a great place for you to browse the catalog or just sit back and relax. There is plenty of technology available for the public to use. One of the best things about the library is the fact that you can get a great view of the entire city.
Tour The State Capitol
It may not be the first thing you think of when considering things to do in downtown Salt Lake City, but the state capitol building is a great building to tour. Check out the halls of power in Utah and see the history behind this fascinating state. It is a great stop to add to your list of things to do while in the city.
Utah Museum Of Fine Arts
This museum houses artwork from the classics as well as contemporary artists. You can check it out and see for yourself what kind of wonders are available. This is a huge cultural focal point that people don’t always know about.
The Hogle Zoo
There are more than 800 animals at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. It spans an incredible 42 acres so you know that there will be plenty for you to view. Go and enjoy it for yourself or perhaps take your children along for the visit. It is one of the most popular things to do in Salt Lake City.
